Chapter 1

Tobit was a Jewish exile living in the city of Nineveh in Assyria.
Even though other Jewish exiles, even his own relatives,
neglected their religion, Tobit stayed loyal to God.

Tobit also cared for the poor and hungry.
And he made a special practice of burying the dead.

第 1 章

托彼特是犹太放逐者，住在亚述国尼尼微城。
虽然其他犹太放逐者，甚至他自己的亲戚，忘记他们的宗教，托彼特仍忠于神。

托彼特还照顾穷人和饥民。
以及他经常埋葬死人。

Dear God, please help me to be like Tobit:
loyal to you and caring for the poor

亲爱的神，请帮助我像托彼特：

Chapters  2, 3

One night when Tobit was resting,
sparrow droppings fell into his eyes and he became blind.

Some people made fun of Tobit for his misfortune.
Tobit humbly entrusted his life to the Lord.

At the same time as Tobit was praying,
Sarah was praying in the town of Media.

Sarah had been given in marriage 7 times
but  all of her bridegrooms had been killed by the demon Asmodeus before the couple could make love.

The Lord heard the prayers of Tobit and Sarah
and sent the angel Raphael to help them.

第 2、3 章

一天晚上，当托彼特在休息时，
雀粪落入他的眼睛，他就失明了。

一些人以托彼特的不幸取笑他。
托彼特虚心地把他的人生交托给主。

在托彼特祈求的同时，
撒辣在玛待镇祈求。

撒辣已结婚七次，
但她所有的新郎与她合房之前，被恶魔阿斯摩太杀死。

主听到托彼特和撒辣的祈祷，
便打发天使辣法耳去帮助他们。

Dear God, please help people who are in difficult situations

亲爱的神，请帮助陷于困境的人

Chapter 4

Tobit said to his son Tobias:

"When I die give me an honorable burial.
Always honor your mother. When she dies, bury her at my side.

Be faithful to the Lord all your days.
Always be willing to help poor people.

Give your bread to those who are hungry
and your clothes to those who are naked.

Ask advice of every wise person.
Bless the Lord God in everything.  Beg him to guide your ways
and bring your paths and purposes to a successful conclusion.

Avoid all loose conduct.
Do to no one what you would not want done to you.

Choose a wife from our tribe, from our kin in Media.
Go to Media, to my friend Gabael.
Many years ago I left 10 talents of silver with him.
This money is yours."

第 4 章

托彼特对他的儿子多俾亚说：

“当我死了，给我一个光荣体面的葬礼。
时刻尊敬你的母亲。 当她死了，将她葬在我旁边。

你一生忠于主。
时常乐意帮助穷人。

把你的食物施与饥饿的人。
和把你的衣服分给裸体的人。

向每个有智慧的人问忠告。
一切赞美主神。求他带领你的道路，并使你的前途与计划顺遂。

避免所有淫行。
你厌恶的事，不可对别人做。

从我们在玛待的支派、亲属中选取妻子。
去玛待，往我的朋友加贝罗那里去。
许多年前我交托十「塔冷通」银子给他。
这钱是你的。”

Dear God,  please guide me and help me to do what is right

亲爱的神，请带领和帮助我做正确的事

Chapters  5, 6

Tobit told Tobias to find a trustworthy man to go with him to Media. Tobias found Raphael, but Tobias did not know Raphael was an angel.

On the first night of their journey, Tobias and Raphael caught a 
large fish. Raphael told Tobias to keep the gall, liver and heart of the fish.

Raphael explained that the gall would cure the blindness of Tobit, and that the liver and heart would drive away the demon Asmodeus.

第 5、6 章

托彼特告诉多俾亚找一个忠实的人与他一起去玛待。 多俾亚找到辣法耳但多俾亚不知道辣法耳是天使。

在旅途的首晚，多俾亚和辣法耳捉了一条大鱼。 辣法耳告诉多俾亚保留鱼的胆、肝和心。

辣法耳解释，胆会治好托彼特的失明，而那肝和心会赶走恶魔阿斯摩太。

Dear God, thank you for the help we receive from your angels

亲爱的神，为我们从你的天使收到的帮助而谢谢你

Chapter 7

When Tobias and Raphael reached Media,
they went to the home of their relative Raguel, father of Sarah.

Tobias asked Raguel for Sarah to be his wife.
Raguel told Tobias that 7 previous bridegrooms had died.

Tobias repeated his request, and Sarah became his wife.
That night everyone prayed for the safety of the couple.

第 7 章

当多俾亚和辣法耳到达玛待，
他们去他们的亲戚辣古耳家，撒辣的父亲。

多俾亚向辣古耳要求撒辣做他的妻子。
辣古耳告诉多俾亚，先前有七名新郎巳死。

多俾亚重申他的请求，撒辣就成为他的妻子。
那夜大家为这对夫妇的平安而祈祷。

Dear God, please bless everyone being married this month

亲爱的神，请祝福这个月结婚的人

Chapter 8

Before Tobias went to bed with Sarah,
he remembered what Raphael had said.

Tobias put some of the fish's heart and liver
on burning incense. The smell of the fish made Asmodeus flee.

Tobias with Sarah then prayed to the Lord:

"You are blessed O God of our fathers.
Let the heavens and all creatures bless you,
you who created Adam and Eve.

I now take Sarah as my wife
not for any lustful reason, but out of true love.

Please have pity on us
and bring us to old age together."

Then they went to bed.

Meanwhile Raguel, who feared Tobias would die,
prepared a secret grave.

But when Raguel sent a maid to the room of Tobias and Sarah
the maid found they were alive and sleeping peacefully.

Then Raguel too praised God:

"Thank you, my God, for making me happy.
What I feared has not happened."

The next day Raguel prepared the customary 14 day wedding feast.

第 8 章

多俾亚与撒辣就寝前，
他记起辣法耳的话。

多俾亚放一些鱼心和肝在香火上。
鱼的气味使阿斯摩太逃走。

多俾亚与撒辣然后向主祈祷：

“噢神我们的父亲，你应受颂扬。
让天地万物赞颂你，
是你创造了亚当和厄娃。

我现在娶撒辣为我妻，
并不是为情欲，而是出自真爱。

求你怜悯我们，
赐我们白头偕老。”

然后他们去睡觉。

同时辣古耳恐怕多俾亚会死，
他准备一块秘密坟墓。

但当辣古耳打发一个女仆往多俾亚和撒辣的房间，
女仆发现他们活着和正在安睡。
于是辣古耳也赞美神：

“谢谢你，我的神，因你使我快慰。我害怕的事没发生。”

次日辣古耳准备惯常一连十四天的婚宴。

Dear God, thank you for the many times when we could say
"What I feared has not happened"

亲爱的神，为我们可以说数次“我担忧的事没有发生”而感谢你

Chapters 9, 10

Tobias arranged that Raphael go to Gabael
to collect the silver left by Tobit many years before.

Gabael returned with Raphael to Raguel's house
and joined the wedding feast.

Realising that his parents would be worried about him,
Tobias left for home as soon as the wedding feast was over.

Raguel gave Tobias and Sarah half his possessions
and prayed that he would see their children some day.

A happy and grateful Tobias thanked God
for all the blessings of his journey to Media

第 9、10 章

多俾亚安排辣法耳往加贝罗那里，去领取托彼特多年前留下的银子。

加贝罗跟辣法耳返回辣古耳的家，
并参加婚宴。

意识到他的父母会担心他，
婚宴一结束，多俾亚就离开回家去。

辣古耳给多俾亚和撒辣他所有家财的一半，并祈求他有一天会看见他们的孩子。

幸福和感恩的多俾亚感谢神，
给他去玛待之旅途上所有的祝福

Dear God, thank you for all the blessings of my life

亲爱的神，为我生命所有的祝福谢谢你

Chapter 11

When Tobias returned home, his parents were full of joy.

Tobias followed Raphael's instructions
and applied the fish gall to his blind father's eyes.

Tobias then peeled away a filmy skin from the eyes
and his father Tobit was able to see again.

Tobit and Tobias  joyfully praised God.

Tobit welcomed Sarah and held a banquet for all his friends.

第 11 章

当多俾亚回家时，他的父母充满喜悦。

多俾亚按照辣法耳的指示，
将鱼胆敷在他失明父亲的眼睛上。

多俾亚把白翳从眼睛里剥出来，
结果他的父亲托彼特能够再看见。

托彼特和多俾亚快乐地赞扬神。

托彼特欢迎撒辣并为他所有的朋友举行了一个宴会。

Dear God, please give sight to the blind people I know,
just as you gave back sight to Tobit long ago

亲爱的神，请为我认识的瞎人恢复视力，
正如你很久以前恢复托彼特的视力

Chapter 12

When Tobit's banquet was finished,
Tobit wanted to thank Raphael for all his help.

Only then did Raphael tell Tobit and Tobias
that he was an angel sent by God to help them.

"I am Raphael, one of the 7 angels who stand ever ready
to enter the presence of the glory of the Lord.

Never tire of giving God thanks.
And never tire of helping the poor."

Raphael farewelled them, rose in the air, and left them.
They praised and thanked God for all he had done for them.

第 12 章

当托彼特的宴会结束，
托彼特想感谢辣法耳所有的帮助。

那时候辣法耳才告诉托彼特和多俾亚，
他是神派来帮助他们的天使。

“我是辣法耳，是在上主的荣耀前，侍立往来的七位天使之一。

不厌其烦给予神感谢。
和不厌其烦帮助穷人。”

辣法耳告别他们，升天去，离开他们。
他们赞美和感谢神为他们所做的一切。

Dear God, thank you for all your love, all your blessings

亲爱的神，谢谢你所有的爱，你所有的祝福

Chapter 13

Tobit praised and thanked God in these words:

"Blessed be God who lives for ever,
declare his praise in every nation.

He is our Creator, our God, our Father.
Praise him for all his kindness to us.

My soul rejoices in the King of heaven.
Let his praise be sung in Jerusalem and in all nations."

第 13 章

托彼特用这些词赞扬和感谢神：

“永生的神应受赞颂，
在每个国家宣告他的赞誉。

他是我们的创造者，我们的神，我们的父亲。 赞扬他给我们所有的恩典。

我的灵魂欣悅於天上的君王。
让他的赞美在耶路撒冷和在所有国家被歌颂。”

Dear God, may you be known and loved
by all the peoples of the world, since all people are your children

亲爱的神，愿所有世人认识和爱你，
因为所有人都是你的孩子

Chapter 14

Tobit was 62 when he went blind.
He died when he was 112.

After he was cured of blindness,
he continued his custom of helping the poor.

Before he died he said to Tobias:
"Take your family and move to Media,
since Nineveh will soon see war and strife.
Serve God sincerely, always be willing to help poor people."

After Tobit and Anna died, Tobias moved to Media
and lived with Raguel his father in law.

第 14 章

托彼特六十二岁时失明。
他死时一百一十二岁。

他治好失明后，
他继续他扶贫的习惯。

他死前对多俾亚说：
“领你的家人搬到玛待，
因尼尼微不久将经历战争和斗争。
真诚地侍奉神，时常愿意帮助穷人。”

托彼特和亚纳死后，多俾亚搬到玛待，
并与他的岳父辣古耳同住。

Dear God, please help me imitate Tobit
in his kindness to poor people

亲爱的神，请帮我仿效托彼特对穷人的好意
